Course Content

This course introduces users to the analytics component of the ASG-Safari™ suite, ASG-Safari.OLAP. This decision support tool provides users with multi-dimensional data analysis and scalability while enabling Web-based users to easily access and analyze data from a variety of sources. While standard reports are an important part of Business Intelligence, they provide a static representation of what has already occurred. ASG-Safari.OLAP enables users to determine what has happened and why. It is an analytical tool that provides decision-makers with immediate insight into the factors that drive their business. ASG-Safari.OLAP is comprised of two components: ASG-Safari Prospector and ASG-Safari MineBuilder.

ASG-Safari Prospector will enable users to:

• Apply techniques for sorting in rows and columns
• Apply filters to specify criteria for multi-dimensional cubes
  
• Create and save reports
• Create graphs of data

ASG-Safari MineBuilder enables users to:

• Build the cube profile, creating dimensions, hierarchies, measures, etc.
• Connect to data sources via ASG-Safari™ OpenAccess
  Construct the cube
• Deploy the cube to a Web server (and create a cube on a local machine and publish it on the Web server)
  
• Use scripting and batch files in tandem with the new cubes
• Address security issues
• Master techniques for installing ASG-Safari.OLAP on a local machine as well as on a Web server
